God’s Little Lambs

God's Little Lambs bannerHi boys and girls! We are so glad you came to visit us today. It is always nice to have friends stop by. My name is Lizzie Lamb and this is my little brother, Landon. We live with our mommy and daddy along with many other sheep in a beautiful pasture. We have a Shepherd who takes very good care of us and loves us very much.
Well, one of our favorite things to do is to tell stories and that is why we are so excited that you came by. You see, we have a story to share with you.
It was a beautiful, warm spring day, and Landon and I had the day off from school. Oh Landon, do you remember that day? It was so nice outside that Daddy and Mommy decided to take us to the park for a picnic.
By the time we got to the park, Landon and I were ready to play. There are lots of games we like to play, but one of our favorite games is “hide and seek”.
“Okay Lizzie, you count while I hide.” Landon said with a grin. He knew I wanted to be the first one to hide.
“Landon,” I cried, “that isn’t fair. I had to count first last time. Please let me hide first!”
“Don’t cry, Lizzie. I was just playing. You can hide first. Ready….. 1, 2, 3…”
And off I went into the woods. In the background I could hear Mommy calling for me to stay close, but I knew Landon would find me if I stayed too close. So, I kept running and running. Up and over some fallen logs and under the low tree branches I went until, finally, I found the perfect spot to hide. It was a funny looking tree that was a little taller than my daddy. The branches hung down and just about touched the ground. When I looked inside the branches, I could see that there was room enough for me to hide inside. It was just like a tent. So inside I went and waited for Landon to find me.
I waited and waited. After a while, my tummy started to growl and I thought I should go back to my mommy and daddy. I was hungry and getting tired so I pulled back the branches and came out of my hiding place. Only I couldn’t remember which way to go. Everything looked the same to me. Oh no! What was I going to do? How can I find my way back? And I sat down right there and started to cry.
“Oh why didn’t I listen to Mommy? I should have stayed closer but I thought I knew best. Now I am very lost and very scared.”
Then I heard something – a voice calling. It was calling my name. You know who it was, boys and girls? Well, it was my Shepherd. He was coming to find me.
“Here I am, Shepherd! Oh Shepherd! Over here!” I shouted as I ran into his strong arms.
You see, Landon couldn’t find me and was afraid that I was really lost. So he told our Shepherd. And right away my Shepherd found me.
It is just like God. Ezekiel 34:11-12 says, “For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out. As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.”
God loves us very much. We are his little lambs and He is our great Shepherd. Just as my Shepherd came searching for me when I was lost, so God searches for us and wants to protect us and keep us safe from harm.
Well, Landon and I hope you liked our story and that you will come back again. Remember to keep following our Great Shepherd, Jesus!
